First, I want to thank you for taking time to read and follow this blog. Going into this year, I wasn’t interested nor did I want to start a blog or have anything to do with adding more to my already busy plate. Well, all that changed when I decided to pursue my PhD in Management @ Walden University. One of the first things my advisor told me was, “Start a blog! It will help with ideas, writing and research as you lead up to the dissertation phase of the program.” Well, here I am.
Second, my experience working with and for nonprofits has given me over 20 years of valuable insight on how and why they are run. I have an affinity for nonprofits and not just the mission/vision/values they all imbue. I feel that nonprofits are at the heart and soul of humanity and the causality of change. There are so many great things that can come out of the ideas of the person whom wants to help others and is challenged to change lives. But this is not to say that all nonprofits work and will continue to be viable years to come.
Hence this blog. I want it to point out the good and bad. Reasons why they work and do not work. Internal development as well as external plans. Do we need more or less in the community? Also, if there are so many, why do so many communities still suffer?
So I invite you to take this new journey with me as I attempt to stay current and cutting edge with the world of nonprofits! I will look to update as much as possible, invite discussion and post articles that you learn from and use. And as always, feedback is welcome.
